In Russia, newspapers began to publish under Peter I.
The role of newspapers in life and society
In a democratic society, the press is calledfourth power. The scandal that leaked into a free newspaper and became well-known, can put an end to the career of any official. In totalitarian countries, free newspapers do not exist at all.
However, newspapers are not without drawbacks. This is primarily the superficiality of the presentation of information, the orientation to the requests of the masses, as well as tendentiousness and dependence on power or money.
