How to make a formworkWhen working with solidifying building materials (for example, with concrete), information on how to make formwork will be useful. Despite the emergence of new building technologies, the erection of foundations and other flood elements of concrete buildings is still impossible without formwork. With the help of this structure, an external, protruding above the ground part of the foundation is formed, and the formwork is removed only after the concrete mix has completely set. Proper formwork is a guarantee of the strength and reliability of the foundation, and, consequently, the entire building.

During construction, two types of formwork are used - removable and non-removable. When building foundations, the first type is often used, and this is due to the fact that after construction, finishing of building facades is usually required, and permanent formwork will not allow to finish the surface with high quality. An important role in this case is played by the quality of the inner surface of such formwork, since the smoother it is, the less finishing work will be needed.

Formwork and material differ. The most common form of wood, the second most popular metal formwork. Relatively recently, the construction industry began to use fixed formwork made of expanded polystyrene, which was widely used due to its features. Such a formwork of cellular material not only allows to obtain high-quality smooth surfaces, but also has good thermal insulation properties, which is not unimportant for foundations. This type of formwork is especially often used for the construction of buildings in a harsh climate.

how to make a formwork for the foundationThe technology of formwork is quite simple. If wood is used as a material, you will need edged boards or plywood boards, as well as bars and nails. The process of building wooden formwork does not require special skills and takes little time. First, pillars are driven into the ground, onto which boards or boards made of plywood are then attached with nails hammered from the inside of the formwork. For greater strength, the structure can be strengthened with external struts, spaced a meter apart.Formwork is installed on both sides of the future foundation - from the outside and from the inside.

You can apply and metal formwork. There are special removable forms for metal formwork, which are plates with a perfectly flat surface. These plates are bolted to the frame, and the result is a flat formwork with hermetic connecting seams. This type of formwork allows you to save the solution in the process of pouring the foundation and reduce the materials and time for finishing the surfaces. If desired, such formwork can be made independently from a metal of suitable thickness.

In the manufacture of formwork of any type, you must follow the level of its upper boundaries - they must be located in one plane horizontally. You can check this with the help of the construction level.
